Who is Mike Filsaime?
Mike Filsaime is an American internet marketer, software developer and business consultant perhaps best known for his popular information product called ButterflyMarketing - a site building software and video home study course which teaches people how to run their own internet marketing business.
Filsaime attended the New York Institute of Technology from 1986 to 1988 where he studied Computer Science and Business Administration. He held numerous jobs while studying including a stint in the frozen foods department of Pathmark Supermarkets. After leaving university, he worked for 14 years in the automotive industry where he was the general sales manager of a Toyota and Hyundai dealership on Long Island, New York. He handled much of the advertising for the dealership and was head sales trainer for all 13 stores. Whilst there he had the opportunity to take many courses on sales, negotiating, and phone selling to hone his skills. He admits that after many enjoyable years it was a tough decision to leave the "car business", when things started to take off online.
First Internet Marketing Success
Filsaime started internet marketing in October of 2002 when he launched his first website. His first purchase was an information product called Instant Internet Empires, which he says taught him how to get started. He admits to being a student of personal development and self-help books and studied internet marketing techniques feverishly to give himself an edge and take him to the next level. He released his first product, Carbon Copy Marketing, in June 2003. In January 2006 he launched his Butterfly Marketing home study course, which garnered him praise and many fans in internet marketing circles. From there, he went on to create other home study courses, software products, and services including his own online advertising network.
On August 5th, 2004, Filsaime left his full-time job at the auto dealer to pursue internet marketing full-time, and claims to have become a millionaire within 3 years. He attributes his rapid success to being able to apply many of the sales and marketing tactics he had learned over his 14 years in the automotive industry. He says that he achieved greater wealth online than he ever dreamed possible, growing his online business from a spare bedroom to two offices and a staff of 36 people that help him run over 50 websites.

Filsaime is a frequent speaker and was the keynote speaker at the Unlimited Power Online Dubai seminar in Dubai, UAE in late 2008. He has also hosted several conferences himself, such as the Internet Marketing Main Event seminar in 2005 and 2006, as well as the annual Internet Marketers cruise.
As of 2010, he has made it on to Invesp Consulting’s list of the top 100 marketers of 2008 and Invesp Consulting - Top 100 Most Influential Marketers of 2009.
Filsaime is married and lives on a 5 acre farm. He has many pets including 4 cats: Woody, Frankie, Blackie and Marty; he also has 2 cats at the office, KittyDotCom (Kenny) and Bloggy and has 5 horses. He enjoys Long Island for its beaches and in the summer loves to drive out to the Hamptons and Montauk Point. He likes seeing Broadway plays in Manhattan, playing golf, racquetball and foosball and also plays XBOX 360 games like RockBand and Call of Duty Modern Warfare I and II.
The Butterfly Marketing home study course made over $650,000 in under 24 hours after it's first launch and went on to produce US$1 Million in sales in under 5 days. The source code to the software is now available for free at ButterflyOpenSourceCode.com.
